Learning Outcomes

Building on the skills acquired in the KS "Operations and Supply Chain Management" course, students have an in-depth understanding of the basic and advanced concepts, models and methods of production and supply chain planning, design and control. They are able to set up optimization models in the context of supply chain planning and select and apply a suitable solution method/algorithm, including using Excel Solver for their implementation and solution.

Skills Knowledge
Learning Outcomes

  • LO2: Students are able to apply appropriate basic and advanced algorithmic approaches to solving problems in supply chain planning, either manually or with the help of a spreadsheet program.
  • LO3: Students are able to create linear programs for supply chain planning and implement and solve them using Excel Solver.
Learning Outcomes

  • LO1: Students know basic and advanced modeling concepts and solution algorithms for strategic, tactical and operational planning problems in production and along the supply chain (see course topics).
Criteria for evaluation In total, students have the opportunity to achieve 100 points, 40 (40%) for the exam and 60 (60%) for the homework examples. A minimum of 20 points on the exam is required to receive a positive grade.

The following grading scheme applies:

PointsGrade
87.5-100.0Very good
75.0-87.0Good
62.5-74.5Satisfactory
50.0-62.0Sufficient
0.0-49.5Not sufficient

Exam:

  • Individual exam. The exam consists of two different categories of questions. The first category relates to practical calculations, while the second category may require the use of Excel Solver to arrive at a solution.

Homework examples:

  • There are homework examples that must be submitted via moodle. Students will receive feedback via moodle.

Synchronization of learning outcomes and assessment:

  • LO1: exam + homework examples
  • LO2: exam + homework examples
  • LO3: exam + homework examples
Methods The course uses a combination of different teaching methods to:

  1. maximize student motivation and attention.
  2. achieve the learning objectives in the best didactically possible way.

This includes the following:

  • Information input by the teacher, supported by slides and literature
  • Development of content in collaboration with the students on the board.
  • Development of solutions to practice problems in small groups followed by joint discussion.
