Students present the interim status of their dissertation projects, focusing on the research methods, experiments, and data collection. They will reflect on the progress made relative to their initial milestone plan and address any adjustments made during the research process. They will integrate feedback to ensure the research is progressing as planned.

This phase is usually reached in the second year of study.

Criteria for evaluation Attendance of 80% is mandatory. Oral presentation of the interim status of the dissertation project in line with the course objectives - specific focus has to be on the applied research methods, the details of conducted experiments or data collection procedures and potential adaptions to the initial plan. Attendance of the first (or second) supervisor is expected. The annual progress report from the Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC) has to be submitted. In case of major revisions during the feedback, a written statement from the supervisors is required. The positive result shall be described as "successful participation", the negative result shall be described as "unsuccessful participation".
