Learning Outcomes
Competences
The students gain fundamental understanding of the principles of current superresolution techniques and their applications and limitations for fixed and living cells/tissues. Students will learn the basics for image acquisition with hands-on experience using STED microscopy. Troubleshooting microscopic applications is another focus of this course.
Skills Knowledge
  • Understanding the possibilities and limitations of superresolution microscopy with a focus on STED
  • Troubleshooting image acquisition based on microscope settings and biological sample choice.
  • Optimizing image quality at the microscope.
  • Principles and applications of superresolution/STED microscopy in fixed and living tissue samples.
  • Fundamentals of image acquisition and optimization.
Criteria for evaluation Attendance of at least 75 %. Active participation: Students will receive hand-on training at the STED microscope based on their own samples. Results will be presented and discussed in the group.
