Competences
The students can understand the effect of drugs on the basis of molecular interactions and are then able to deduce the effect of the influence of selected target molecules and recognize the causes of potential undesirable side effects of pharmacological therapy.
Skills Knowledge
  • Understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying the action of drugs.
  • Understanding of molecular pathways affected by various drug classes.
  • Understanding of molecular interactions responsible for side effects.
  • Molecular interactions underlying the action of drugs from selected major areas of medicine.
  • Signaling cascades affected by select compounds with a particular focus on new insights from current research.
  • Enzymes involved in the metabolism and the transporters responsible for the excretion of pharmaceuticals.
  • Novel therapeutic approaches currently under development.
