Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students develop a comprehensive understanding of physical, electrochemical, and cell physiological principles involved in electrophysiologic signalling.
They are able to discuss physiology and pathophysiology of ion channels and transporters within cellular membranes and the different methodologies to measure their activities.
Skills
Knowledge
Understanding the physical and physiological mechanisms of electrophysiology in cell signaling.
Identifying key objectives and methodologies in electrophysiology.
Basic concepts of membranes, ion channels and transporters.
Basic concepts of electrochemical gradient and driving force.
Basic concepts of units in physics related to electric currents and circuits
Basic concepts of electrophysiologic events in excitable and non-excitable mammalian cells
Major findings, emerging fields, and novel views in electrophysiology.
Criteria for evaluation
Attendance of at least 75 %.
