Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students have a fundamental understanding of multi-channel immunofluorescence in basic research and how to plan such experiments. They perform immunofluorescence staining on biological samples and receive practical training in confocal and superresolution microscopy. They learn how to perform image reconstruction and analysis using state-of-the-art software.
Skills Knowledge
  • Preparing biological samples for immunofluorescence staining.
  • Performing multi-channel immunofluorescence.
  • Using confocal and super-resolution microscopy.
  • Troubleshooting challenges in sample preparation and staining.
  • Learning the basics of image reconstruction and analysis using advanced software.
  • Sample preparation for immunofluorescence.
  • Principles and applications of multi-channel immunofluorescence.
  • Fundamentals of confocal and super-resolution microscopy.
  • Image analysis and reconstruction.
Criteria for evaluation Active participation (a minimum 80% attendance is required.). All laboratory work will be documented in the form of a protocol by the participants, and all data will be presented at the end. Performance from oral presentation and lab protocol will be graded.
Methods Students will perform multi-channel immunofluorescence to detect various epitopes in biological samples. These samples can either be produced by the students or will be provided by the institute.
