Objectives The students examine practical or theoretical problems in Business Informatics, applying their skills acquired from the base, core and specialization subjects. They independently study common problems in the core field of Data & Knowledge Engineering from the relevant state-of-the-art scientific literature, and present their results in written and oral form. Furthermore, the students master basic techniques of academic work, including literature research, analysis of academic papers, and presentation of scientific results.
Subject The course content and seminar topics reflect the current state-of-the-art and trends in the field of Data & Knowledge Engineering.
Criteria for evaluation Quality of term paper and presentation; active participation in the discussion and reflection of the seminar topics.
Methods Scientific work in small groups on specific and more in-depth topics and technologies. Presentation, discussion and documentation of the groups’ results.
Language German/English
Study material The required reading focuses on the selected seminar topics. Students are granted access to common Digital Libraries (e.g., ACM, IEEE and SpringerLink), and may also utilize the reference libraries of the Departments of Business Informatics.
