Objectives |
The seminar builds on the latest state of the art research of the modul regarding debates and theories of the digital society. In particular, students gain indepth insights into international scientific debates about the digital transformation of capitalism and society, the respective structural and institutional changes and their significance for human agency.

Subject |
The seminar consists of profound readings, reflections and discussions of theoretical approaches. It reconstructs the respective traditions of thought rooting in the history of social sciences and philosophy. It reconstructs, analyses and discusses the terminology developed and used in social sciences and sociology to explain and understand the phenomenon of digitalization, its causes and effects. It compares the content and scope of theoretical approaches and explanations. Teaching and learning procedures vary: reading, discussing, comparing theoretical approaches; reconstructing historical developments and their scientific interpretation; comparing international theoretical and empirical state of the art research.
