Objectives This course focuses on the role of the government in market economies. Its objective is to provide an understanding of (a) the reasons for government intervention, (b) the benefits and drawbacks of government policies, and (c) the response of economic agents to policy interventions. It also teaches institutional knowledge and discusses recent policy issues. Methodologically, the course takes an integrative approach that combines theoretical models with empirical evidence.
