Objectives |
This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of fundamental business and management concepts. Students will learn about the purpose of organizations, the primary challenges involved in establishing and operating an organization, such as the division of labor, and a general overview of key management functions. Furthermore, students will gain insights into two fundamental modes of organizational transformation and innovation: exploitation and exploration, and understand the each mode's implications. With an transdisciplinary approach, this course stimulates students to think about how other fields can inform transformative and innovative efforts.

Students will learn about the purpose of organizations, the primary challenges involved in establishing and operating an organization, such as the division of labor, and a general overview of essential management functions. Students can understand the relationships between organizations and their environment and associated system dynamics. Students will gain insights into two fundamental modes of organizational transformation and innovation: exploitation and exploration, and understand each mode's implications. Moreover, students understand the relevance of other disciplines (e.g., architecture) for innovating and organizing.
