Original study plan Master's programme Physics 2024W
Objectives Based on the introductory courses on solid state physics, as well as soft matter and biophysics, this course delves into the structure and dynamic properties of soft matter. Soft matter refers to a class of materials that exhibit intermediate characteristics between those of conventional liquids and solids, typically displaying flexible, deformable, and often complex structures on the molecular or mesoscopic scale. Beyond polymers, colloids, liquid crystals and amphiphiles, it also introduces the emerging field of active matter. Students will acquire a profound understanding of common principles governing the behavior of soft and complex matter and gain insight into experimental techniques used to investigate soft and complex material systems.
Subject Ideal and real polymers, polymer networks, polymer materials, linear and non-linear viscoelasticity, stimuliresponsive polymers, colloids, granular matter, amphiphiles, liquid crystals, molecular motors, active Brownian particles, active nematics
