Original study plan |
Master's programme Biophysics 2023W |
Objectives |
Insight into sophisticated bioanalytical strategies and methods
|
Subject |
Biospecific detection and biological interaction analysis
1) In solution (homogeneous assays)
- Biocatalysis (enzyme assays)
- Biospecific binding (e.g. between receptor and ligand)
2) On surfaces (heterogeneous assays)
- Biocatalytic sensors
- Affinity sensors
- Chip assays (nucleic acid, protein, peptide, etc.)
3) Biological interaction analysis (specificity) 4) Geometric analysis of biological interaction
|
Criteria for evaluation |
Written exam. The answers should make clear that the student has understood the rationales/principles of the methods and their applications. Bioanalytical techniques rest upon particular physico-chemical properties of biomolecules which are then exploited in the bioanalytical assay methods.

Further information |
The exam answers can be written in English or in German. The preferred examination method is a written test at the end of the course. However, the exam can also be taken any time during the year (except when the lecturer is on vacation). Just contact the lecturer about one week ahead of the desired date by email or phone or in person.
