Detailed information |
Original study plan |
Master's programme Mechanical Engineering 2023W |
Objectives |
After successfully engaging with the topics of this course, students will be able to
- classify different types of multiphase flows,
- describe the fundamentals and the basic equations of different modelling approaches,
- describe the flow phenomena of the selection of multiphase flows covered in this lecture,
- independently perform basic calculations of multiphase flows,
- describe the relevancy of different kinds of multiphase flows for sustainable energy technologies.
The level of mathematical modeling and analysis of the mentioned topics is comparable to the level of the textbooks: Brennen, Fundamentals of Multiphase Flow, 2005; und Clift, Bubbles, Drops, and Particles, 2013.
|
Subject |
Multiphase flows are described in the context of different examples in the field of energy technologies, like
- flow in packed beds
- bubble reactors
- fluidized beds
- CO2 capturing
- particle deposition (for the example of solar panels)
|
Criteria for evaluation |
Written assignment, written and/or oral exam
|
Methods |
Lecture by means of a script, development of practical examples
|
Language |
German |
