Detailed information
Original study plan Master's programme Mechatronics 2023W
Objectives Knowledge of the most important mathematical models used in the field of fluid power and knowledge of the implementation of these models.

Ability to abstract mathematical models from circuit schematics and data sheets of fluid power systems and components.

Insight into the issue of computational efficiency of implementation especially with regard to wave propagation problems.

Subject Recapitulation of basics from fluid mechanics with a focus on weakly compressible liquids in high pressure applications. Condensation of simpler models from the general three-dimensional formulation:

Lubrication gap theory with Reynolds equation and elasto hydro-dynamics of journal bearings as examples for a spatially two-dimensional theory.

Wave propagation in transmission lines as a spatially one-dimensional problem with expansion to frequency dependent friction (1.5D theory, Zielke-Suzuki method).

Criteria for evaluation Evaluation of home work assignments.
Methods Demonstration of the application of computer algebra and numerical methods live on a computer with video projector.
