Detailed information
Original study plan Master's programme Electronics and Information Technology 2024W
Objectives Students know and understand the fundamentals and key topologies of DC voltage regulators. They are able to analyse and dimension their operating behaviour and thus define their possible uses and limits in terms of applicability. They will also know and understand the main control methods for self-controlled DC inverters.

The level of treatment of the topics mentioned corresponds approximately to that of the relevant chapters in the textbook Zach, Franz: Leistungselektronik, 5. Auflage, Springer Verlag (2015)

Subject DC voltage regulator DC voltage regulator without galvanic isolation

  • Step-down converter
  • Step-up converter
  • Step-up and step-down converter

DC voltage regulator with galvanic isolation

  • flyback converters
  • Flow converters

Self-guided DC/DC inverters

  • Block, amplitude, slew and pulse control
  • Modulation method
  • Optimised pulse patterns
Criteria for evaluation Collaboration, homework, written exam
