Objectives New emerging applications in medicine, such as Smart Drug Delivery and Internet of Bio-NanoThings, require communication between so-called nano-machines (e.g., nano-robots). Due to the small size of nano-machines (micro- and nano-meter) and the environments (e.g., human body) in which they operate, electromagnetic waves are often not suitable for an efficient information transmission. However, a promising alternative is the information exchange using molecules (so-called molecular communications), which is already widely used in natural biological systems. Students know and understand the basics of molecular communications. They are able to theoretically model and analyze molecular communication systems, to simulate them with the help of computers and to realize them practically.
