Objectives Students will learn the fundamental principles of multi-channel immune-fluorescence in basic research. They will further gain a basic understanding of sample preparation for immunofluorescence, including troubleshooting, by working hands-on in the lab. Students will perform multi-channel immunofluorescence to detect various epitopes in biological samples. These samples can either be produced by the students or will be provided by the institute. Students will learn the fundamental principles of confocal and superresolution microscopy and will receive hands-on training in confocal microscopy. The course work will be concluded by students learning the basics of image reconstruction and analysis using state-of-the-art software.
Subject Sample preparation, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, image analysis
Criteria for evaluation Active participation (a minimum 80% attendance is required.). All laboratory work will be documented in the form of a protocol by the participants, and all data will be presented at the end. Performance from oral presentation and lab protocol will be graded.
