Objectives In this class, focus is given on the performance of plastics recyclates and recycled products. Furthermore, the relevance of adequate quality assurance system is shown.
Subject The material composition and the overall performance of plastics recyclates is dependent on the pre-treatment of the feedstock. Hence, quality begins with an adequate waste collecting system followed by the waste treatment (sorting, shredding, washing, etc.) and the final conversion into new granules and/or products. The course contains insights into quality assurance systems and conveys the importance of specification and certification schemes.
Criteria for evaluation Written exam with transparent point system and corresponding grading.
Methods Lectures with PowerPoint and Handouts.
