Objectives Fundamental understanding of electrochemical reactions and the corresponding in-situ probing of reactive surfaces by different means of spectroscopy.
Subject Repetition of electrochemistry, optics, reflection and spectroscopy. Spectroelectrochemistry starting with UV-vis transmission spectroscopy, reflection spectroscopy, FT-IR and Raman, Ellipsometry. Further X-ray diffraction, photoemission, Mössbauer and other aiding spectroscopic techniques. Application of Spectroelectrochemistry eg. for Li-ion batteries, hydrogen and carbon dioxide recycling.
Criteria for evaluation Interactive elements included in evaluation. Depending on the number of participants, there will be either an oral exam or a written exam.
Methods Lecture with interactive elements.

Study material Power point slides, videos and pictures. References to related literature. Oral examination based on highlighted topics.
