Objectives |
Knowledge of fundamentals of manufacturing technologies and systems with high relevance to mechanical engineering and polymer engineering. Mastery and understanding of related basic simulation models. Knowledge and skills for planning and dimensioning of typical manufacturing tasks (process variables, scheduling etc.) and for selecting appropriate manufacturing processes and systems.

Introduction into essential manufacturing technologies with relevance to mechanical engineering and polymer engineering.
- Metal cutting technologies: Fundamentals, processes, process models, machine and plant systems
- Metal forming processes: Fundamentals, processes, process models, machine and plant systems
- Further selected manufacturing technologies such as sintering, soldering and welding
- Fundamentals of Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies (rapid prototyping)
- Laser-based manufacturing technologies such as laser cutting, laser welding
- Polymer processing: processing properties of polymer materials, processing technologies (extrusion, injection moulding, blow moulding, …), polymer processing machines incl. measurement and control equipment
