Objectives Students know and understand the basics of measurement based on the measurement chain and can apply them to simple tasks. They are able to:

  • find suitable instruments, methods and sensors for a given measurement task as well as to evaluate and understand their application range and limits
  • determine the measurement uncertainty of a measurement system
Subject
  • Introduction: the measurement chain, characterization of measurement systems, measurement signals
  • Measurement uncertainty
  • Measurement of electrical quantities: current and voltage
  • Measurement of resistances and impedances, bridge circuits
  • Selected resistive, inductive and capacitive sensors
  • Measurement of non-electrical quantities (position, angle, speed, acceleration, strain, force, temperature, pressure and flow)
  • Time and frequency measurement
  • Digital measurement technology and computer-aided data acquisition
