Objectives |
Fundamental concepts and methods in kinematics and statics of rigid and deformable bodies
|
Subject |
The lecture Engineering Mechanics 1 is concerned with kinematics and statics of material bodies and their application to engineering systems. The topics
- Basics of kinematics (kinematics of a point, relative kinematics and kinematics of rigid bodies)
- Kinematics of deformable bodies (geometrically linearized strain tensor)
- Basics of statics (force and moment, force systems, static reduction of force systems, equilibrium conditions)
- Stresses (Cauchy stress tensor, Cauchy stress formulas, local equilibrium, geometrically linearized description)
- Statics of 1D structures (rods, frames, trusses, ropes and cables)
are treated in detail.
