Detailed information
Original study plan Bachelor's programme Computer Science 2022W
Objectives Students understand the structure and workflow of compilers. They are familiar with common methods of scanning, parsing, symbol table handling (including type checking), and code generation. They are able to transfer compiler construction skills to general software engineering problems, e.g. by using attributed grammars for general translation processes.
Subject Basics of formal languages (regular and context-free grammars, deterministic finite automata, push-down automata), scanning, parsing (recursive descent, LR(1), LALR(1)), attributed grammars, symbol tables, code generation, virtual machines, compiler generators.
Criteria for evaluation Written exam at the end of the semester.
Methods Slide presentations as well as examples on the backboard.
