- Understand the theoretical basics of labor supply and factors influencing it
- Understand factors that influence firms’ labor demand
- Understand the importance of self-selection in determining labor market outcomes
- Understand measures of wage and income inequality and recent trends and causes

(*)This course will give an understanding of some of the issues in contemporary labor economics, with an emphasis on the empirical side of the discipline. It will cover a mix of theoretical economics and econometric techniques. Topics covered include: introduction to empirical labor economics; labor supply and labor demand; self-selection; skills, tasks, and technology; trade and labor markets; discrimination and race; discrimination and gender
