Objectives |
- Participants have a clear concept of normative ethics (utilitarianism & duty ethics) and can comprehend and distinguish between legal norms based on these.
- Participants recognize the ethical dimensions of foreign and own medical research and can evaluate them in a well-founded way.
- Participants understand the basics of animal ethics in the European legal area, know the concepts behind animal experimentation applications and can apply the guiding principles of 3Rs.
- Participants understand what planning and documentation steps are necessary to ensure a productive research process, meaningful and reproducible data, and professional interpretation of results.

Criteria for evaluation |
Attendance of 80% is mandatory. It is not possible to achieve a positive grade, if requirements concerning attendance cannot be fulfilled. The final grade is based on a seminar paper and presentation of this seminar paper. The seminar paper covers a study plan and study report of a simulated clinical trial (trial data provided by the course instructor). The seminar paper can be written in groups.
