Objectives Knowledge of power semiconductor devices and power electronic circuits
Subject This course treats the construction and application of the most common semiconductor devices. The lecture covers following topics:

  • physical fundamentals of semiconductor technology
  • construction of semiconductors
  • external circuitry for driving and protection of semiconductors
  • cooling and heat transfer
  • uncontrolled and phase-controlled rectifiers
  • line-commutated converters
  • self-commutated inverters
