Detailed information
Original study plan Master's programme Mechatronics 2023W
Objectives Students know and understand the basic scientific principles of magnetic bearing technology and are able to create models for active magnetic bearing systems and develop control concepts from them. Students can understand how bearingless drives work and can dimension such systems and realise their control.
Subject Introduction to magnetic bearing technology (types of magnetic bearings) Components of magnetic bearings Bearingless motors and their application The levitation body - modelling and control Force calculation for radial and axial bearings Magnetic levitation railway - Transrapid Design of magnetic bearings Considerations for fast rotating rotors
