Objectives Students know and understand the fundamentals and essential topologies of magnetic bearing technology and bearingless motors. They are able to analyse and dimension their operating behaviour and thus define their possible uses and limits in terms of applicability. They are able to allocate real effects and are able to create models and design control systems. They can also independently carry out (performance) measurements on (high-speed) motors, design and commission magnetic bearings and bearingless motors.
Subject Active magnetic control in one degree of freedom on the model of the floating sphere: modelling, control, commissioning

Magnetically supported shaft: Active radial bearing

High-speed drive: Measurement (particularly with regard to losses) of a PMSM up to speeds of 200,000 rpm.

Bearingless disc motor: mode of operation, control, winding systems, commissioning
