                      | Objectives | Fundamental concepts and methods in kinematics and statics of rigid and deformable bodies |
                      | Subject | The lecture Engineering Mechanics 1 is concerned with kinematics and statics of material bodies and their application to engineering systems. The topics Basics of kinematics (kinematics of a point, relative kinematics and kinematics of rigid bodies)
Kinematics of deformable bodies (geometrically linearized strain tensor)
Basics of statics (force and moment, force systems, static reduction of force systems, equilibrium conditions)
Stresses (Cauchy stress tensor, Cauchy stress formulas, local equilibrium, geometrically linearized description)
Statics of 1D structures (rods, frames, trusses, ropes and cables)
 are treated in detail.
