Objectives
Familiarity with fundamentals of product data management, especially with tasks, components and operating principles of technical database and communication systems that support consistent analog and digital engineering and business-processes. Acquiring practical skills with respect to EDM/PDM- and PLM-systems based on selected examples.
Subject
Role and significance of engineering and product data management in the various phases of the product-lifecycle.
Tasks of technical database and communication systems along the lifecycle of technical products.
PLM-systems as integration platforms for data-generating systems (CAx-systems).
Components of PLM-systems as e.g. document management, change and release management, and management of product-versions, assemblies, project management.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Production Planning and Scheduling (PPS), respectively.
Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
PLM-systems: Integration of EDM/PDM-systems with ERP-systems to ensure consistency of models as well as information and data flows.
