Objectives |
Basic understanding of important elements of modern manufacturing systems. Knowledge of structure of machine tools as well as their components, especially of numerically controlled machine tools. Achievement of basic programming skills for such machines. Understanding of CAD/CAM process chains and manufacturing control. Ability to apply adequate measures for quality assurance in manufacturing.

- Structure of and requirements to machine tools. Components of machine tools such as drives, guidances, control systems, measuring systems, clamping devices. Special features of CNC machine tools.
- NC-/CNC Programming: Structure of NC-programs, control commands and applications, programming methods and techniques.
- CAD/CAM-process chains: 3D-CAD models, CAD/CAM-programming, trends in the automation of NC-programming, CAD/CAM-coupling, overview of CAD/CAM systems, simulation techniques related to manufacturing.
- MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems).
- Manufacturing control systems.
- Quality management for manufacturing: Methods of quality management and quality testing, failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), Computer-aided Quality Assurance (CAQ).
