Detailed information
Original study plan Bachelor's programme Mechanical Engineering 2022W
Objectives The practical course introduces a student to the basics of electronic circuits powered by a micro controller. Three exercises deal with the automated acquisition of process quantities like position, temperature and rotational speed.
Subject This course covers the following topics: measurement of position (inductive, eddy current and optical) measurement of temperature (metal and semiconductor resistors, NTC and thermo couples), temperature control with a peltier element measurement of rotational speed (inductive, optical, and electro-mechanical sensors and via a tachometer)
A custom project of a sensor/actuator PCB circuit with a micro controller.\\ Control of the measurement instruments via USB, RS-232 or GPIB and Matlab is a vital part of all exercises.
Criteria for evaluation three reports on the exercises, a report on the own project and a short presentation of the project at the end of the semester are obligatory. The presentation does not influence the grading.
Methods lab experiments, project work supervised by lecturer
