Objectives Overview over the most importnant components, application areas and circuit concepts of hydraulics and pneumatics. Ability to solve simple dimensioning computations.
Subject Basic principles of hydrostatics and hydrodynamics are covered to the extent, that pressure-flow relations, flow forces, hydraulic inductivities and capacitances can be understood and calculated. Fundamental features of hydraulic and pneumatic fluid power systems are compared to each other and to different drive technologies. Basic components like pumps, hydromotors, valves and cylinders are explained with respect to function, application and composition. Reading and charting fluid power circuit diagrams including the dimensioning of components is trained by means of examples for simple application cases. Finally, the hydraulic fluid may not be overlooked as a component: An overview of hydraulic fluids with their properties and applications as well as an introduction to filtration concludes the course.
