Detailed information
Original study plan Bachelor's programme Mechanical Engineering 2020W
Objectives Achievement of basic knowledge of most important manufacturing technologies for the processing of semi-finished metal products, parts, and assemblies. Ability to (mathematical) modelling, simulation and evaluation of selected processing technologies. Knowledge of the influence of material parameters of metals on their processing capabilities with respect to selected manufacturing processes including the quality (properties and tolerances) of semi-finished and finished metal products, parts and assemblies. Ability to evaluate manufacturing technologies and routes with respect to economic criteria. Adequate knowledge of manufacturing automation systems and actual trends in metal processing technologies.
Subject
  • Survey about most important manufacturing technologies for the processing of semi-finished metal products, parts, and assemblies.
  • Processing of metals by means of selected manufacturing technologies: selection of appropriate technologies and processes, (mathematical) modelling, simulation, and evaluation of simulation results.
  • Properties of metals and their influence on the processing capabilities and quality (properties and tolerances) of semi-finished and finished metal products, parts and assemblies.
  • Aspects of automated metals processing like CAD/CAM-coupling, manufacturing control technologies, economic efficiency.
