Objectives |
The IK course "IK Empirical Wirtschaftsforschung" supplements the course "KS Empirische Wirtschaftsforschung". The KS course focuses on econometric concepts and theory which will be discussed in class and the IK focuses on empirical applications. All class meetings will take place in the computer lab.

Criteria for evaluation |
In essence, students enrolled in the IK course are required to complete four "take-home problem sets". Grading will be based on the number of completed exercises from these problem sets and the quality of the student’s presentation. In all, there are examples up to 24 points to solve. Students may be awarded additional points for a good presentation; for poor presentations, points may be deducted.

Methods |
The first class meetings will introduce students to the statistical/software packet Strata. During the subsequent class sessions, selected students will prepare and present exercises (see Criteria for Evaluation). After each exercise, there will be a joint class discussion.
