Subject |
This course will focus on Cross-Cultural Communication, Teamwork and Virtual Teams. JKU students will work virtually with American students at our US partner, the University of Cincinnati (UC). (No travel is involved.) They will work in teams of approx. six people using videoconference technology, email and other tools such as Skype to do research on teamwork, virtual teams, and cross-cultural communication and integration. There will be formal class time for which attendance is required as well as teamwork time. For the teamwork times, the teams will work independently and communicate with their team members in the US by email, Skype or videoconferencing. The course will involve some assigned readings on teams and teamwork, a case for analysis as well as a project that will require research on particular topical areas. Students will learn by doing. It is difficult (and often meaningless) to learn about virtual teams, team processes, and teamwork without any practical experience. In this course, the students will have opportunities to gain much experience in developing (virtual) teamwork skills.
