Objectives By the end of the course, students will have the ability to identify the key theoretical and empirical foundations of (comparative) political economy and they will be familiar with the distinctive features of different types of state-market relations. Students will be equipped with the relevant analytical skills allowing them to understand and analyse the relationship between political and economic institutions.
Subject The course provides an introduction to the key concepts, theories, and issues in (comparative) political economy. We will assess differences and similarities of state-market relations among countries, in order to understand variation in economic and social institutions among advanced capitalist economies.
Criteria for evaluation The course will be assessed by a written assignment (e.g. seminar paper and/or written exam) and an oral assignment (e.g. oral exam, presentation and/or participation in course discussions).
