| First of all, the students develop an understanding of the main preconditions of research design, data collection and alternative methods of data analyses. These basic skills are needed when attempting in other methodological courses and planning own thesis. The course will provide students with an overview about comparative research in the field of social policy: methods, subjects and reasons for its popularity executed by self-study.
The aim is that students will be able:
- to understand why comparisons are done
- to recognize different kinds of comparative social policy comparisons
- to identify different kinds of data that are used in comparative social policy
- to name various methods that are used in comparative social policy studies
- to read comparative research with a critical eye
