Objectives Students are familiar with the fundamental (optimization) problems of (sustainable) transportation logistics. They are able to formulate them in a structured (mathematical) way. They understand the concepts and algorithms which are commonly used to solve these types of problems and they are able to apply them to case study problems.
Subject (*)
  • Basic graph theoretical concepts necessary to model transportation planning problems
  • Shortest paths problems, traveling salesman problem
  • Vehicle routing
  • Network optimization
  • Solution concepts and algorithms (exact and heuristic methods)
  • Applications (such as city logistics, disaster relief, last mile delivery)
Criteria for evaluation (*)Exam(s), exercises
Methods (*)Lecture, Discussion, Exercises
