Objectives Students are familiar with the basic decision and optimization problems in (sustainable) transportation logistics. They are able to understand the respective mathematical models and to generalize them. Furthermore, they are familiar with fundamental concepts and solution approaches in transportation logistics and they are able to apply them in different problem settings.

  • Basic graph theoretical concepts necessary to model transportation planning problems
  • Shortest paths problems, traveling salesman problem
  • Vehicle routing problems
  • Network optimization
  • Solution concepts and algorithms (exact and heuristic methods)
  • Applications (such as city logistics, disaster relief, last mile delivery)
  • Software tools for decision support/prescriptive analytics in transportation logistics
