Objectives Financial and investment decisions have a substantial impact at firm performance and value. On the other hand, the mode of making such decisions is affected by specific business environment of a country where the firm is located. So, this course is aimed at the specific features of financial system in Russia.
The objective of this course is to provide students with understanding of the motives that financial managers take into account when they are making financial decisions in Russia. Students will make acquaintance with Russian financial market, banking system, principles and structure of financial activities regulation. They also would learn the mode of corporate governance in Russian companies and its impact at financial architecture and financial decisions.
Students would apply their knowledge and practical skills to real cases of Russian companies that act both at their domestic market and in an international environment

Criteria for evaluation The course grade will be based on class participation, group work, and a final exam. The class participation weights 20% of the final grade, group work contributes 40% and remaining 40% is provided by the exam
Methods The course includes lectures, tutorials and case analyses. Students are expected to have read the assigned material before class. Student participation and questions are strongly encouraged. You will be required to complete a group project that focuses on applying the course knowledge and skills to a Russian public company. You will be assigned a company on the 1st day of class. More project details will be given in class (and/or on KUSSS)
