Objectives The students will develop an understanding of the main preconditions of research design, data collection, alternative methods of data analyses applied in social and comparative research. These basic skills are needed when attending other methodological courses and when planning the Master's thesis.
Subject The course includes an introduction lecture and an independent online learning materials and exercises. The aim of this study unit is to gain insight into the discourse on methodology of social research. This includes the main ideas and orientations of quantitative and qualitative research.
Criteria for evaluation Written assignments and/or final exam.
Methods This is an independent study class. Students will autonomously engage with readings provided for them and demonstrate their insights in a final examination or in a written assignment.
