Objectives |
"Legal English" is an intensive language course that provides a foundation in legal terminology and language use for individuals whose first language is not English. The program is intended for law students who wish to enhance their knowledge of Anglo-American legal terms and will develop the students' ability to recognize, understand, and use legal English in oral and written formats. This course is not a review of English language structure. It is a highly participatory course that requires a good command of English to a certain extent in order for a student to participate successfully. In all sections, participants will engage in a process of active learning that will improve skills in reading, writing, note taking, and oral communication
|
Subject |
Students will improve their proficiency in Legal English through vocabulary study; speaking assignments, including managing discussions and debates, the performance of simulated (“moot”) trials and contract negotiations in order to provide students with practice using English while handling legal topics, extensive practice, application of the vocabulary learned in the Legal English course and the provision of additional law-related words and terminology
