Objectives |
Building on German Communicative Skills, students extend knowledge of language learning strategies and communication strategies appropriate to B2 level.
They are able to produce and understand German at a B2 level according to the CEFR.
They can understand the main ideas of complex German text relating to familiar issues of business and economics.
They can produce clear, detailed text on an increasing range of business-related issues, drawing appropriately on written and statistical input
They can provide a clear oral presentation of issues related to social, business or economics topics.
They can give a clear, prepared presentation, giving reasons in support of or against a particular point of view and discussing the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
They can follow discussion in a meeting setting and can contribute effectively by accounting for and sustaining their position.
The students gain a greater awareness of challenges in intercultural communication in international settings.

Subject |
The following topics will form the basis of classroom activities:
- Aspects of grammar and vocabulary development necessary for linguistic and communicative competences at B2 level
- Various themes in contemporary business and society in German-speaking countries
- Communicative activities to foster development of student abilities in the four skill areas (speaking, listening, reading and writing)

Continuous assessment in the form of production and comprehension tasks during the semester;
Oral presentation tasks;
Final written exam

Methods |
Communicative language practice and self-study methods to develop linguistic and communicative competences at the B2 level on the CEFR. Explanation of text-construction conventions. Grammar and vocabulary development activities. Role-plays, meetings, presentations and interaction.
