Objectives Fundamentals of wave-phenomena are understood and can be transferred to the principles of imaging. Signal reconstruction techniques and image processing methods are understood and students are aware of safety aspects.
Subject Students obtain an insight into the following subjects:

  • Waves and wave phenomena
  • Generation and propagation of electromagnetic waves
  • Generation and propagation of sound waves
  • Wave-matter interaction
  • Technical principles of X-ray, NMR, sonography, impedance tomography, OCT
  • Signal analysis and image reconstruction
  • Basics of image processing
