Objectives |
The students will learn independent preparation and execution of multi-step organic syntheses as well as isolation of natural occurring compounds including literature search and use, laboratory safety and required analytical and separation techniques.

Subject |
Several assignments to synthesize or isolate substances from the existing chemical literature in cooperation with researchers.
Task includes literature searches, implementing procedures, setting up of lab equipment, controlling the reactions, purifying the products and spectroscopic analysis.

Criteria for evaluation |
Performance in the practical execution (purity and yield), compliance with safety rules, knowledge of scientific and technical background to the specific tasks, adequate reporting (lab protocols).

Chemistry laboratory work with individualized instructions.
