  • Definition and industrial applications of biochemical technology
  • Definition I: biopolymers (protein, DNA, carbohydrates, lipids) are subjected to chemical modification or genetic engineering to enhance their functional properties and tailor them to specific applications in industry or healthcare
  • Definition II: generation of enzymes that are used as tools for the bio-assisted industrial synthesis of vitamins or oligosaccharides

  • Synthesis of semisynthetic proteins (expressed protein ligation)
  • Genetic strategies for protein engineering
  • Chemical tools for targeted modifications of proteins
