Detailed information
Original study plan Master's programme Polymer Technologies and Science (PTS) 2020W
Objectives The aim of this course is to introduce polymer engineering students into basic concepts of measurement and control engineering. For a better understanding of the discussed theories, the course includes practical exercises (simulations and laboratory exercises).
Subject Part I:

  • Introduction to Signals and Systems (Matlab)

Part II:

  • Measurement basics (Sensitivity, Resolution, Precision, Linearity, Statistics)
  • Power Measurement
  • Process sensors (Temperature, Pressure, Force, Position,….)
  • Signal conditioning
  • Data acquisition
  • Advanced process sensors (Spectroscopy, Ultrasound,…)
  • Laboratory exercises and/or Matlab Simulations – Measurement

Part III:

  • Process control basics
  • PID control
  • Process control in injection moulding and extrusion
  • Matlab Simulations – Process control
