Original study plan |
Master's programme Polymer Technologies and Science (PTS) 2015W |
Objectives |
The elective track "Polymer Industry and Sustainable Development" aims to enhance the awareness of polymer engineers towards a variety of challenges faced specifically by the polymer industry but also by society at large. It provides an opportunity to strengthen and broaden the knowledge on topics related to the environmental, ecological, economical and social impact of various polymer technologies. Furthermore, it covers the role and perspectives of polymer technologies to contribute towards technological solutions of some major global problems and challenges (e.g., climate change, future energy strategies and scenarios, welfare for a growing world population). To widen the scope towards the potential for future polymer based material technologies, these topics are complemented by course offers dealing with biopolymers, biological materials, and novel synthesis and production routes for polymers based on regenerative resources.
