Objectives To provide basic concepts and knowledge about electronic systems where the carrier movement is restricted by potentials in one or more dimensions.
Subject Electronic Density of States in low dimensional systems; wave functions and energy eigenvalues in quantum wells (2D), quantum wires (1D) and quantum dots (0D). Electronic transport and optical properties; practical realizations and applications of low-dimensional systems.
Criteria for evaluation Oral Exam, dates by arrangement.
